BANKS MONSTER-RAM INTAKE HEATER UPGRADE TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE FROM GRID HEATER BOLT FAILURE ON CUMMINS 6.7L LITER DODGE YEARS 2007 THROUGH 2018 AND MODELS 2500, 3500, 4500 & 5500
Band-Aid Fixes Are Not Solutions
Don’t be fooled by band-aid types of fixes which claim to prevent stock grid heater failure. BD’s Killer Grid Heater kit is a temporary fix that leaves RAM owners with a false sense of security because in reality they have nothing more than a fastener held in by only a liquid thread locker. Furthermore, leaving the stock heater chokes the engine’s performance because the BD screw will arc, melt, and fall into the intake manifold, causing the stock grid heater to collect more soot and reduces airflow. Banks Monster-Ram eliminates the grid heater. There’s nothing to fail or collect soot.

Prevent The Cummins Ticking Time Bomb Of Broken Bolt Engine Failure
Resulting from heat and vibration over the span of time, a stud and nut from the factory heater grid that comes with the Cummins 6.7L engine has been documented to come loose and fall into the intake manifold. Due to the engine's 5° rake, the broken bolt rolls down, into the #5 or the #6 cylinder, causing either catastrophic failure that requires a complete engine rebuild or replacement due to bent valves and/or damaged pistons and head.

For peak performance, the Monster-Ram includes a custom-machined high-flow cast intake plate. This plate is machined to the optimum thickness and features an oversized inlet CNC port which is matched to the Monster-Ram for zero restriction and maximum air density.
The Banks Monster-Ram Intake is the heating solution engineered for unrivaled airflow.
This new Banks exclusive coil heater sits vertically inside the Monster-Ram without hindering airflow. This allows the factory grid heater to be replaced with the Banks High-Flow Intake Plate. This eliminates the risk of engine failure due to parts loosening and falling into the engine while maintaining OEM-like cold weather engine start performance.
How Banks Does It
The Cummins engine struggles to breathe through its small intake inlet. The stock intake causes boost loss at the same flow while the Banks Monster-Ram provides an unrestricted, wide and free-flowing path for the intake air.
Banks Monitors Everything
The Monster-Ram has four 1/8 inch NPT ports for installing temperature, pressure, or flow sensors.
Banks Engineered A Better Solution
Other replacement manifolds are compromised due to the fact that their No. 1 fuel line obstructs the airflow path. By contrast, the Monster-Ram offers unparalleled airflow with its custom, engineered fuel line. The boost in airflow comes without the additional need of tuning.
50-State Compliant
All emission systems are retained, maintaining 50-state compliance and a CARB-EO.
The Banks Monster-Ram Difference Is All About Mass Air Flow
The secret to the Monster-Ram's performance is not just airflow, but the quality and weight of the air that flows. The Cummins engine is limited in the volume of air it can flow through its 6 cylinders even at max RPM. By increasing the mass of the air delivered to each cylinder, the stock-tuned Cummins engine will breathe more efficiently with less stress, which sets the stage for power gains when stacked with a tune.
What The Banks Monster-Ram Intake Does
With the Banks Monster-Ram intake, the truck's engine will have superior cold starts due to the included 750-watt coil heater and the option of upgrading to 1500 watt cold starts with the 1500-watt dual heater coils for extreme cold conditions.
The Monster-Ram benefits the turbo as well, because the turbo no longer has to work as hard to hit the ECM’s target boost. The proprietary design raises boost without increasing back-pressure at the turbine. The result is improved engine response, efficiency, and headroom for daily driving and heavy hauling.
Anything in the system that doesn’t create air density, cuts air density. Banks designed the Monster-Ram to provide the air density that was lost with the stock intake. The Banks Monster-Ram with its high-flow intake plate, replaces the restrictive factory plate, providing a free-flowing design.
There are two devices on the Cummins engine that increase air density; the turbocharger and the intercooler.
The Monster-Ram improves airflow from the intercooler. It flows 72.7 lbs/min with Banks’ coil heater and high-flow cast intake plate compared to the stock heater's 38.6 lbs/min MAF. That is a whopping 88.3% improvement over stock! In some instances, the airflow before/after difference exceeds 100% improvement. The difference can be felt.
Why The Banks Monster-Ram Intake Is Better
You will gain throttle response that can be felt and you'll accelerate with the confidence that the stock heater grid won't fall victim to heater bolt failure.
The Banks Monster-Ram Intake for the 6.7L Cummins in the Ram truck lives up to its name. It is a MONSTER. Banks pulled out all the stops when developing it.

Banks Monster-Ram Intake and Killer Grid Heater Upgrade
The Banks (Dual Heat Capable) Monster-Ram improves throttle response and fuel economy by eliminating airflow restrictions. The patent-pending system prevents severe engine damage by replacing the failure prone killer grid heater with the Banks, high-flow cast, intake plate and intake body-mounted coil heater. By replacing the factory heater, you remove the possibility of it failing, because the grid heater’s problematic stud and nut are no longer there. Monster-Ram is the only 50-state emissions-compliant RAM intake elbow.
This Banks Monster-Ram intake upgrade prevents the heater bolt failure, otherwise known as the killer grid, that is typical of the stock heater grid that comes with the Cummins 6.7 Liter engine, wherein a stud and nut from the factory heater grid may come loose (in many cases it has) and fall into the intake manifold and down into the #5 or #6 cylinder, where it usually causes catastrophic failure that requires a complete engine rebuild or replacement due to bent valves and/or damaged pistons and head. This bolt (stud & nut) failure is due to the result of heat and vibration, over the span of time, which can lead to the nut coming loose or the stud and nut coming loose due to the stud melting.
