Diagnostics are a powerful discovery tool when coupled with experience and knowledge. Our technicians go beyond the codes to discover the solution to your truck’s problems. Codes can often be only a clue, requiring a diesel repair technician to tap his own deep reserve of knowledge and experience, as well as that of his team’s, to determine exactly what is wrong.
Our team does more than just troubleshoot. Our diesel repair mechanics can diagnose the appropriate solutions when it requires in-depth observation or thorough research, so you can have the peace of mind that your truck will be back at work. We are here for all your repair and maintenance needs.
OUR DIAGNOSTICS SOFTWARE TOOLS FOR DIESEL TRUCK REPAIRS
Diagnostic Software – With diagnostic software, we can diagnose problems, read fault codes, force Regens, review wiring diagrams, and more. Our diesel truck repair software provides component repair instructions, repair times, technical information resources, and more.
Diagrams – We can view wiring diagrams specific to your truck’s systems, the components within those systems and their placement within the wiring diagram, and access interactive diagnostics software systems that enable us to drill through to component technical information, diagrams, pinouts and more. We can further determine the connections and view the pin out to know what needs to be tested.
Component Replacement Guides – We have step-by-step component replacement instructions in our diagnostics software, including complete diagrams and pictures relevant to the component. Our component replacement guides help us to service and repair your diesel truck accurately and efficiently, saving you time and money.
Technical Component Information – Our diesel diagnostic tools provide us with the technical information on your components. The components’ technical information includes pictures, diagrams, and drill-down details which further include components specs, component locations, and more.
Diagnostic Tools – For Dodge RAM, Ford, and GM GMC and Chevrolet brand diesel pickup trucks, and for Cummins, Power Stroke, and Duramax brand diesel engines, diagnostic software provides the information needed to diagnose problems or issues, to force Regens, calibrate injectors, to calibrate automatic transmissions, and more. We can record dozens of diesel engine and systems measurements across time spans and play back video to discover when faults trigger as we measure, track and monitor the health of your diesel truck’s systems.
Truck Scanner – Our diesel truck scan tool provides the diagnostic software needed to read fault codes and to troubleshoot Dodge RAM, Ford, and GMC, Chevrolet truck systems, as well as Cummins, Power Stroke, and Duramax diesel engine systems. We can monitor, in real time, the efficiencies of your truck’s systems and components to observe any deficiencies which are present, allowing us to further troubleshoot the systems or components identified as concerns and quickly resolve the problem for you with the needed repair or service.
Fault Code Reader – We can troubleshoot by fault code, reading your diesel pickup fault codes which are active or which have been triggered; then diagnose the faults and clear the codes from your truck’s system. This allows us to identify, diagnose, and resolve your truck’s issues specific to what the truck’s onboard computer system has identified and recorded. Fault code reading allows us to identify what the fault codes reveal, diagnose the situation, and perform the necessary steps to get your diesel truck back on the road.
Maintenance Data – Specific to your diesel truck, we have the maintenance data, service intervals, and more, at our fingertips in our diagnostic tools software and scanners; so we don’t have to search other systems, the internet, or dig through your truck’s service and maintenance manual to find the data we need.
Technical Data – We have the proper system specs, the torque specs, pinouts, voltages, layouts, routing, and more, specifically for your truck, within the technical information integrated into the software of our diagnostic tools.
Work Order Accuracy – Our diesel truck repair diagnostics software tools allow us to read and record data from your diesel truck, and then, to capture your truck’s specific data in your work order. We can also run trials while recording your truck’s data. We can set triggers at specific values to determine efficiencies and deficiencies within your truck’s systems; all of which allows us to see the data we need to make accurate repair, maintenance, and service decisions. Measuring what matters helps us to work efficiently, to bill accurately, so you can pay for what you need.
TODAY’S DIESEL PICKUPS ARE DEEP INTO THE DATA
Today’s diesel engine fault detection and diagnostic systems log and track data related directly to diesel engine problems and sync with data related to preventative and predictive engine maintenance measures. Computer diagnostics provide sophisticated data interaction in the processes of identifying the types and the locations of engine faults using multi-level signal processing techniques which correlate the targeted data with an exhaustive, predefined database.
Wish as we may, not all diesel engine problems can be positively identified, so in addition to identifying problems, computer diagnostic systems also provide warning signals for unidentified problems when they are detected. The diagnostic database can, sometimes, then be modified and updated to include new diesel engine faults related to the prior warning signals, which in time, improves the process of diagnosis wherein many of the previously unidentified problems are then able to be identified with precise solutions. The diesel technician’s service procedure can then be applied directly to what previously was just a warning signal, allowing him or her to solve the problem with the appropriate repair and maintenance procedure that may have previously gone unaddressed.
Precise, quick, and accurate; three words that save you money and decrease your downtime.
Diesel engine repair and diesel truck service that is precise, quick, and accurate, saves you money and reduces your downtime. The diesel service technicians at Cummins Automotive & Diesel Service utilize sophisticated computer diagnostic systems to quickly get from fault to fix for fast and accurate repairs.
INJECTOR DIAGNOSTICS
Today’s diesel engines are equipped with onboard diagnostics that can detect injector issues. If your ECM (Engine Control Module) identifies a problem with the injectors, it should illuminate the dashboard’s Check Engine Light. When the Check Engine Light is illuminated, you should have your diesel truck inspected by a qualified mechanic to determine the issue or problem that triggered the light.
Fuel injector diagnostics tests will show each injector’s current performance output, specifically, how much fuel is flowing through the injector during designated RPM loads. Injectors which test good for output, or flow-through amounts, will be free of particle buildup and obstructions. If your diesel truck lacks power or fuel efficiency, Cummins Automotive & Diesel Service is here to run fuel injector diagnostics on your diesel injection system to assess your injectors functional efficiency at the various RPM loads.
PROBLEMS REVEALED WITH DIESEL INJECTOR DIAGNOSTICS
If your diesel pickup truck exhibits the signs of diesel injector problems, our diesel injector diagnostics can accurately diagnose the issue before attempting to repair something. An accurate diagnosis will save time and money while preventing the wasteful replacement of components which do not address the problem. If injector diagnostics reveals the injectors are faulty, the injectors will either be repaired or replaced.
SPECIFIC INJECTOR DIAGNOSTICS
When injector diagnostics reveal faulty injectors, the extent of damage needs to be assessed. A visual inspection for injector leaks, damage, carbon buildup, or loose connections, will be carried out. An injector balance diagnostic test can assess the uniformity of fuel delivery. A compression test can detect cylinder-related issues. A fuel pressure test can assess the fuel system’s efficiency. Examining the engine control module’s error codes can help to further pinpoint the issue.
After the diesel fuel injectors are repaired or replaced, they are calibrated to ensure they deliver the correct amount of fuel at the precise timing. The fuel system is leak tested and inspected for leaks, verifying all connections are good. The engine is started and functional tested to ensure that the new or replacement injectors are functioning correctly without efficiency or performance issues.
